Casey Burns Blackwood D Folk Fute Another great way to start on the flute is to buy American maker Casey Burns' folk flute. We offer his D flute in blackwood; blackwood looks great and is a dense wood so it gives the flute a nice, dark tone and good volume. This model is a bit more affordable than Casey's standard flute, as it does not have the tuning slide and rings, but the turned wood rings are gorgeous and it plays just the same.

M&E 6-key ebonite D Irish flute This is a flute by Michael Cronnolly out of Ireland. I have one of these with 8 keys; this is the 6 key version (all 6 keys are in good shape). The ebonite has a much deeper and resonant tone than delrin, but also is maintenance free. Just like delrin, there's no need to oil or humidify or break in wood; just pick it up and play; goes anywhere. And as a Rudall & Rose copy, it is a responsive and easy flute to play.
Price New: €520.00 (about $661)

Doug Tipple PVC keyless 3-Piece D flute We can take orders for master flute-smith Doug Tipple's keyless PVC flutes. You can order them in white, grey, or black PVC (with faux rings), with the fajaro wedge, and with or without offset toneholess and lip plate. As an excellent starter flute, these flutes won't break the bank and give you a lot of options: for example, you can get offset toneholes that allow a more ergonomical playing style for those with smaller hands, or anybody who would prefer a more comfortable grip. You can also choose to order his lip plate, which emulates the chimney depth of the more traditional wood flute (making the switch back and forth a breeze).
All Doug Tipple flutes are fully tuneable and break down into 3 sections for easy storage, and come with a handmade cloth case and wire cleaning brush (for wiping out the inside).

Doug Tipple Gray PVC keyless 3-Piece D flute This is a new keyless D flute with offset toneholess made of white pvc by master flute-smith Doug Tipple. An excellent starter flute, the offset toneholes allow a more ergonomical playing style for those with smaller hands, or anybody who would prefer a more comfortable grip.
